Mortgage rates seem to be holding within a tight band around 5 percent. Early indications were worsening rates as the stock market was off to another strong opening, but it appears that "sideline" cash may be moving into bonds following Bernanke's remarks on "60 Minutes" over the weekend. The new caution is the question around continued foreign appetite for US treasuries as the spread between US treasuries and MBS continue to spread significantly.
