Mortgage rates continue to rise as volatility continues to invade the equities market causing the same erratic movement in the debt markets. However, the continues conservative strategies against mortgage assets is likely to continue to apply upward pressure on mortgage rates.
Expect the abrupt jump in mortgage rates this week to trigger a steady climb. Fed rate movements and government actions to keep a lid on mortgage affordability may unnaturally effect this long-term trend.
