June Employment Data Fails to Shock, Rates Flat

Bonds were down today after the June Employment Report failed to deliver the market any surprises. Rates should stay the same today. The Labor Department reported a 5.5% unemployment while expected level was at the 5.4%. The lack of a further deterioration in the unemployment levels is good news for the economy and bad news for mortgage interest rates. The markets close early today for the 4th of July holiday and will re-open Monday.
