Mortgage Rates Hold Steady

Mortgage rates held steady this past week, with the standard 30-year fixed-rate mortgage unchanged from last week’s record low of an average rate of 4.57 percent, according to the weekly Freddie Mac survey.

The average rate on the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage was down a single basis point to 4.06 percent, while the 5-year Treasury indexed adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) increased to 4.75 percent, up 10 basis points from last week’s 4.65 percent.

All three loans included an average 0.7 discount and origination points.

The Freddie Mac weekly mortgage survey is based on mortgage commitments with an 80 percent loan to value rate and covers the period over the immediately preceding Monday through Wednesday.
