Kansas - Government Backed Loans

The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation mission is to enhance Kansas communities with housing opportunities. This goal is achieved through using a variety of strategies and approaches, including increasing homeownership opportunities, leveraging the construction of more affordable rental housing, preserving existing housing through rehabilitation, promoting energy efficiency improvements for owner-occupied and rental housing, providing affordable housing through rent assistance to low-income families and senior citizens, and creating housing opportunities for previously under served persons and communities.

Refinance Programs

Kansas Energy Efficiency Program - KEEP

KEEP offers interest-free loans to homeowners in order to assist in energy efficient home improvements. This loan acts as a second loan, and has a lower blended rate than a conventional second loan. There are no income restrictions with KEEP, and KHRC funds half the amount of the loan, with a maximum of $10, 000 in state subsidized loan funds. Homeowners may also qualify for energy credits on their tax return by increasing their home's energy efficiency.

Purchase Programs

First Time Home Buyers Program - FTHB

FTHB offers first-time homebuyers whose incomes are 80% below the median income downpayment assistance in the amount of 15% to 20% of the home's purchase price. A minimum investment of $500 or 2% of the sale price, whichever is lower, is required from homebuyers toward the purchase of the home. This second mortgage is to be used in conjunction with a first mortgage, and financing for both is available.
