CPI Unchanged, Rates Improve

Rates were down today after consumer prices from February were reported with much weaker than expected numbers. Rates should improved by around .375 to price. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) from February showed no change, which was much below expectation of price increases. The market gave back much of yesterday's selling as a result and bonds improved. Also, University of Michigan posted its Index of Consumer Sentiment with slightly stronger than expected data. This report was completely overshadowed by the CPI results. Looking forward to next week, we'll get Industrial Production on Monday, as well as PPI inflation reading on Tuesday. Also there will be the FOMC meeting on Tuesday, which will likely be the most important event of the week for interest rate markets.
