Rate Updates: Mortgage Rates Down (2008-03-11)

Wednesday's market is up, with rates improving around .375 to the points, despite stock market gains and with no relevant news released. Tomorrow, we'll get February's Retail Sales report which will give a good read on the health of consumer spending. The report will serve to help refute or support the concern that we may be in recession. On Friday February's CPI (Consumer Price Index) will be released. This also give us a sense of inflation on consumer goods. Also due out Friday is The University of Michigan's Index of Consumer Sentiment, which attempts to predict consumer's willingness to spend.
