Rates Jump Up on Strong ISM Report

Mortgage rates are up today on stock market gains. Rates can be expected to increase today by as much as 50 basis points. The stock rally and the weakness in bonds comes as a result of stronger than expected data from this morning's ISM manufacturing index which showed that the index actually rose, while it had been expected to decrease. This is good news for the state of the economy, bad news for rates.
